shhh... Gmail's sleeping

Gmail is still very young, and I am happily still telling myself how cool I am to have an account despite being a late blogger. But are email servers supposed to stay offline for longer than a day? I'm grinning pretty sadistically at the thought of people who ebay'ed accounts for $100 and have been trying unsucessfully to log on every 30 seconds for the last 24 hours...
